“It all began when my husband Harry and I spent our honeymoon at The Inn at Honey Run in December of 1988. Since we were familiar with another hotel and had no previous experience at Then Inn, we planned to spend our first 3 nights at The Inn and the last 4 at the other hotel. We took The Inn into our hearts as soon as we walked in.
Those were the days of the Sunday night “raid the kitchen” dinners, and we had called to say we were delayed due to heavy snow. They told us not to worry, and that they’d save some dinner for us. We were welcomed with open arms and had our own private little “raid the kitchen” event. We fell in love with The Inn as we fell more in love with each other. We were in tears that we had to leave The Inn, but honored our reservation at the other hotel.
After checking into our room elsewhere, we were completely bereft and sorrowful. We tried to put on a happy face for each other, but then we both blurted out at the same time, “I want to go back to The Inn at Honey Run.” We asked the desk clerk if we could check out early after the first night without penalty, and they nicely said we could. We then called The Inn and begged to return. I think we even said, “We don’t care if it’s a broom closet. Do you have any kind of room for us? Please?! We need to come back!” The said they had one vacancy, but it wasn’t the level of room we had before. we didn’t care because there are no “bad” rooms at the Inn, so we snapped it up.
After two nights, they had a vacancy in a better room, and told us they were moving all of our things for us. We treasure every one of our many visits to The Inn, whether staying the Inn, the honeycombs, or coming just for lunch or dinner. Each visit was (and is) unique and special it its own way, but the abiding sense of serenity, peace, and beauty is and has always been part of The Inn at Honey Run, and it will always call us back to you.”
Sincerely,
Deborah & Harry Bolen
