After the soaring success of our Haiku Walk installation here at the Inn at Honey Run, where local poets joined us to introduce and recite their haiku poetry as it was immortalized in stone, we’re excited to welcome the next creative addition to our beautiful Open Air Art Museum.
Local artists Jan and Vince Bowden operate a creative studio in Big Prairie, Ohio known as Bowden Bells. Here they craft all sorts of beautiful sculptural artwork and garden decor from glass and steel, including bells, bird baths, jewelry, chimes, sculptures, wall art, gates and trellises, and one-of-a-kind creations that speak to their passion for all things beautiful and natural in the world.
Vince Bowden was a working machinist who found his artistic outlet in the craft of pottery. “But I really hated pottery,” says Vince. “Real men make things out of steel!” Thus, Bowden Bells was born in a garage in Minneapolis, MN. He and his wife Jan are the skilled and visionary craftsmen behind all the beautiful works of art available in their online store and live gallery, which maintains open viewing hours for the public Monday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Locals enjoy browsing their inventory of original artwork and watching the Bowdens work steel and blow glass right there in the shop. The creative couple believes in caring for and preserving our beautiful Earth and use recycled materials throughout all of their artwork.
The Bowdens put their heart and soul into their work, crafting and forging right alongside one another in their workshop. “We work together and I gain inspiration from my soulmate,” says Jan about the Bowdens’ happy marriage and creative life. Their wares are available on their website and in their shop.
When the Bowdens heard about our plans for an Open Air Art Museum embedded right into the serene landscape of the forest and fields of Honey Run, they couldn’t wait to put something together. After many months of sculpting and shaping, Bowden Bells will unveil a 9 foot tall steel Totem Pole here on the grounds, made specially for the Inn at Honey Run! We’re so pleased and excited to welcome this breathtaking addition to our creative natural landscape and invite all of our friends and guests to come stay with us November 5, 2015 to join us for the installation ceremony of this magnificent new sculptural art piece.
For more information about the event, contact our event coordinators at guest services, and be sure to check out the amazing original, hand-made artwork produced by Jan and Vince Bowden at BowdenBells.com!

We’ll be glad to have you, Bob! Rates and availability for the evening can be found here. We look forward to having you join us for the sculpture installation. Feel free to call guest services should you need further assistance.
I’ve known Vincent and Jan since we were kids back in Minnesota. They have always been artists working with metal. I have one of their bells in my backyard and always think of them when I see it. They do excellent work and after years, the bell still has a strong clear ring.
Congratulations to anyone who has one of their artistic pieces.
I got my in-laws a two night package to enjoy. They have some mobility issues. Will they be able to get to the open air museum? My mother-in-law wood love it!
We’re very happy to accommodate your family here on the property, Michelle! Thanks for giving the gift of a stay at Honey Run. Just have them ask for the Director at the front desk when they check in and I’ll make sure they have some assistance getting to some of the art pieces in the Open Air Art Museum. Happy Holidays!
