The moon is new this week, leaving the night sky wide open for the stars to shine bright as ever and we’re prepared to take it all in here at Honey Run. One of the things that city dwellers forget when they’re immersed in the hustle bustle of the urban lights is that you can’t see the gorgeous Milky Way from amidst the concrete jungle. The glow of the city lights outshines the distant stars and it’s all too easy to forget their really up there. Our property is a haven for stargazers looking for a high vantage point away from the distracting city lights.
Throughout the summer the brightest star in the sky, Polaris the Northern Star, will easily dominate the canopy along with some recognizable constellations like the dippers and Cassiopeia. From these you’ll be able to identify some of the deep space objects in your guidebook. From the Andromeda Galaxy to legendary favorites like Draco and Hercules, there is a whole tapestry of story and beauty to be seen in the skies about Honey Run.
When you come out to the Inn this summer we’ll be prepared to send you to our private star viewing spot right at the top of the grounds with a supply kit to enjoy the whole evening together. Our guidebook will direct you to the various constellations visible this time of year with a compass to help you find them (no cheating with your cell phone, of course!). Our Star Gazer amenities enhancement offers these services with wine and chocolates so don’t be afraid to plan an evening under the stars.
We’re big fans of the gorgeous forest and birds but there’s nothing that can truly take your breath away than to stare out at the great universe beyond our little blue planet and wonder at our place in the stars.
Happy Stargazing!
