December 4, 2013
Dear Honey Run Friends,
This time of year causes me to reflect on my life more than any other time. I am not sure if it is because the sun sets so early and I spend more time cooped up in the house in the evenings or if it is the family traditions that begin with Thanksgiving and ride the wave of Christmas through December; but it is a time I reflect. I think of my childhood holidays and the magic of touring the neighborhood to see the lights. I love the chill in the air outside while I sit inside tucked under a blanket watching a holiday movie. I find calm in the dark still nights. I enjoy the music and food of the season, but most of all, I cherish the time with family. Watching the kids open presents with sheer amazement and joy, sharing a special moment with my siblings and their spouses, and savoring another holiday with my parents.
Life is short. If I am lucky, I will get to live the average life expectancy of a man in the U.S. and experience 78 Christmas holidays. What I have learned in life so far is that I should not procrastinate enjoying this holiday season because tomorrow is promised to no one. I must seize the day and soak in all of the love and joy I can, appreciating every moment as though it is my last. The power of the Christmas season is not lost on me. I pray that you find peace and joy this Christmas and seize the day.
So turn on the holiday music and bring to life the songs sharing why it is “The most wonderful time of the year”.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Jason
Jason,
Enjoyed reading your thoughts on Christmas…..exactly the way I always feel at this time of year. So many things… people, memories, music, events…..The joy of knowing that a Savior was born to us long ago so that we might experience eternal life……how could you not celebrate this?? My husband and I are in our 70’s now and we find that as you grow older, you appreciate all of the things this wonderful season brings even more.
