Dear Honey Run Friends,
I was asked a question a year ago this month that changed my life. When was the last time (or a time) your heart raced or had a breathtaking moment? How would you answer this question? Do you have moments like this often in life? Was it your first date or meeting with the love of your life? Was it watching the sunrise or sunset? Was it seeing your child enter this world? Was it watching a loved one be baptized into the family of Christ? Was it celebrating your 50th wedding anniversary and seeing your bride who gets more beautiful with each passing day? Was it the day you met your Savior?
For me I have experienced a couple of these moments. I can tell you that witnessing a sunrise or sunset renews my amazement at God’s created beauty in this life. I never tire of this sight and could spend every day watching this free and incredible show. My current work schedule has me heading to work these mornings with the sunrise and heading home around sunset, and the days when the sun is visible in the Ohio sky, I have been awestruck with the beauty of the light against the clouds as it slowly fades away.
I have experienced the first date and meeting with a heart racing moment. Meeting the love of my life for the first time at a restaurant, my heart was racing. We dined together for 2.5 hours, and I remember being there, but I could not tell you anything else other than my head was spinning with nerves through the entire experience. I asked questions and worked hard to engage her in conversation as my heart was racing and I was uncharacteristically flustered through the entire encounter.
I remember the day I bargained with God and actually stuck to the bargain. He met me in church and opened my eyes and heart to hear His words through the pastor. As the days and years grew beyond this moment, I felt numerous heart racing and breathtaking moments. I learned more about and then came to personally know my Lord and Savior. These life-changing events had my heart racing at every turn and brought excitement and hope to my life.
This question and these moments are what make life exciting. We all know the pain in life all too well. But it is these glimpses of hope that God provides us that show us that beauty reigns over the ugliness of life. Light beats the darkness and good will and does prevail over evil. I pray that you have many moments in life that your heart races and your breath is taken way. I pray you are blessed with the perspective and vision to see the light through the clouds of life, and I pray that you have the ability to cherish each breathtaking moment as it could be your last in this life before you experience the ultimate heart racing and breathtaking moment of meeting your Savior and Lord, face to face.
This life is special and holds many magical moments. I pray you can slow down and see these moments. I pray that God floods your life with goodness, and I pray that you always know He is with you. Regardless of your financial situation or social stature we are all given the beauty of nature and the promise of love from its Creator.
Your humbled Innkeeper,
Jason
