While this winter wasn’t as severe as last year, there was still plenty of cold, snow, and rain to keep us all cooped up inside and in full hibernation mode. Fortunately, however, that’s now changing. It’s getting warmer every day here at Honey Run, the snow is all melting away, and the spring time birds have started to come home. True to form, March came in like a lion and will go out like a lamb. Hallelujah!
Let it Bloom
With the return of warmer weather and more rain, we’ll start seeing the green leaves return to the trees and our gardens come back to life. We cultivate our own garden of beautiful and colorful flowers but there are several wildflowers that sprout in hidden patches along the trails and up the hillside. We usually see some gorgeous Geraniums, Marigolds, and Lilies.
Lambs
We’ve welcome several new lambs to the Honey Run family in recent months and, let me tell you, there’s nothing like watching a bunch of excited little lambs jumping and kicking in the field to get you jazzed for warmer weather. Our family of sheep are always happy for visitors and pose well for memorable photos.
Birds and the Bees
The springtime birds are returning with a refreshed and invigorated song after their vacations to the south. We’re always happy to welcome them back to the roost and enjoy the music that fills our forest at dawn. The birds sing for us all summer long and it keeps a smile on the faces of our staff and guests.
And You Too!
Of course the best part of spring is that we can all get out and stretch our legs a bit. After several months of cold winter and slushy snow, we can all do with a nice walk, some fresh air, and the sounds of nature to wake us back up and prep us for the sunshine to come.
Spring is one of the best times of year to visit the Inn at Honey Run, not just because of the glorious return of nature and new life, but because we’re just so darn excited to see spring that the enthusiasm all across the grounds is infectious. Guests often comment on the bright and chipper moods of the Honey Run staff in the spring time and it’s because we’re glad to see winter go and new visitors arrive. Let us welcome you this spring with a comforting stay and a delicious gourmet meal before you tour and hike the grounds in peace and quiet.
