Saying Goodbye to Our Feline Friends

Posted on August 8, 2022
in Around the Inn, Newsletters

This week has been a sad week concerning our resident cats. Bizzy, who has been with us for 5 years passed away from illness relating to his age. While we are sad that he is gone we understand that life on earth is not eternal. Bizzy will never be forgotten. He was so full of life in his younger years and was a very affectionate cat.

Sadly, Hank was missing over the weekend and we found him close to the front of The Inn in the brush. He was injured on his hind legs and was clearly in distress. We immediately rushed him to the vet and found out he was struck by a car and had numerous internal injuries. We had to do the humane thing for Hank and let him go.

I appreciate the cats, but don’t share the love so many of you have for these creatures, but Hank was different. He arrived here last fall and while Hank was our troublemaker, he was full of personality and extremely friendly. Due to Hank causing issues I became involved with him removing him from buildings and trying to tame him. This forced interaction created a bond between the two of us. I will truly miss Hank and the spark of love he offered all our guests.

We have animals pass away from time to time but never in such close succession. I know there will be more cats that arrive at The Inn in the coming years, and we will continue to be a sanctuary for them in honor of our founder Marge Stock, who truly loved her feline friends.

the news of these two passing just breaks my heart. I know you gave them a good home, and that was a blessing to these two. May they rest in peace and be in happy and healthy in the cat heaven in the sky.

Oh, no. We’re so sorry to hear this news, especially about Hank. We “met” Hank this past April and thought he was one of the best cats ever — so loving, handsome and ornery. He was fortunate to have found a safe home and made friends at the Inn — and we were fortunate to have met him. I hope we see him someday at the Rainbow Bridge.

I’m so sorry to hear about Bizzy and Hank’s passing. Losing them is the most difficult part of loving a pet. It makes me happy that the inn is willing to take in some cats and care for them. They make the inn feel “homey”. and welcoming.

We have such a fond memory of Hank. At our first visit to Honey Run, he sneaked up on us on the patio and tried to come inside – at first we thought he was a stray but called the front desk to check and sure enough Hank was a resident. He befriended us in a way I’ve never seen a cat do so easily, sitting in our laps and letting us hold him like a baby. I’m so sad to hear of his passing but in a way glad I got to meet him.

The loss of these kitties breaks my heart. We had bonded with your beloved Satchmo a couple of years ago and fell in love with him. He followed us all over the grounds and one of the highlights of the day was meeting up with him in the mornings. I saved the article about his passing last year. We had since befriended Hank and enjoyed his company as well. One of the reasons I love the Inn so much is visiting with the kitties-it just feels like home. Thank you for opening your home to them-I’ll be looking forward to the next kitty that greets us when we visit❤️

Sorry to hear about Hank and Bizzy’s passings. There have been many times when we were on the trails and then along would come a cat. It is part of the unique vibe at The Inn. Thank you for giving the cats a good home and looking forward to new furry friends in the future.

First, I want to give kudos to the Inn for honoring the founder, Marge Stock and her love for cats. She is smiling down on you. This speaks volumes to your guests. I hope to see other rescue feline friends in the future on the nature paths or chilling out around the Inn. Rest In Peace over the rainbow bridge Bizzy and Hank. You will be missed.
