Inn at Honey Run News

Letter from Jason — March 2014

Dear Honey Run Friends,

Learning to see the good through the storms in life has been challenging for me, and I am willing to bet it is the same for many of you. I, like most of us in the Midwest, am sick and tired of gray skies and bone chilling weather. But then I hear about the horrible droughts in California and I think about my friends in Uganda who are struggling for water and my attitude changes as I see the blessing in all of this snow which helps restore our fresh water table.

Three new lambs at Honey Run

While I have come to love the simplicity of the country life I often miss the urban environment with all of the conveniences and entertainment that come with the city. And just when I was at my lowest point of missing the buzz of the city, we had another lamb whose mother wasn’t producing enough milk, requiring us to bottle feed him several times each day. Through this process, he has become attached to me and now the guy with no children and who is adamantly against any pets in his house finds himself nursing a week old lamb in his home. Watching him grow and explore the world has brought me great joy, seeming to be another attitude adjustment in the making.

These two examples are just a sampling of the humbling moments I have encountered on this journey. What I do know is that I am at Honey Run for a reason and I owe myself, my Creator, and each of you the honor and respect to see where this road is going to take us. The journey of owning and running a small business in the current economic environment has not been easy, but it sure is rewarding. The rewards come from a conversation with a repeat guest who shares how much Honey Run means to them. The reward comes from a team member excelling at their tasks and looking back on a job well done. The reward is seeing this property after 32 years still growing and improving while realizing we are just in our infancy as a business.

I look forward to seeing you at Honey Run soon and sharing our team, our property, and all of our blessings with you while you create memories with your personalized Honey Run experience.

Sincerely,

Jason

What a great letter, Jason! It was a ray of sunshine in a very dreary winter. We have only been to Honey Run on several occasions and loved it every time. We especially like the honeycombs.

What a beautiful letter! Makes me love this place even more! We had our 1st visit here in August 2013 when we were lucky enough to happen upon a LivingSocial deal and got to visit a place we had always wanted to visit and enjoyed every second of it! We think of it so often and cannot wait to return. We stayed in a wonderful honeycomb room. It was an amazing place and an amazing weekend! Thank you for having this wonderful treasure of a place!

    Jason,

We were so encouraged by your comments. We have always felt Honey Run was a “special” place and it appears that you will continue to keep it that way. You are right in that our Lord has blessed you with a purpose for your life and He will bless you for following it.

We are scheduled to come in May and look forward to meeting you.

    Sincerely,
    Don & Sue Tighe
