Dear Honey Run Friends,
Recently I saw the movie titled The Walk, and was amazed at the courage displayed by Philippe Petit as he walked a tight rope across the World Trade Towers in the 1970’s. I knew the outcome, and yet the movie pulled me in. My fear of heights had me tense through the entire second half of the film. The movie showcased Petit returning to the observation deck regularly to relive his dream of the daring walk. This made me reflect about my own dreams in life.
I always dreamed that I would own my own business, and I have been fortunate enough to have this dream come true. But as I dig deeper, I realize that Petit could relive his dream only in his mind, whereas I get the honor of living my dream every day. Greeting you at the front desk and listening to your adventures while visiting The Inn at Honey Run are daily reminders of that. This also humbled me as I recalled the many times I’ve grumbled about having to work another 80-hour week or how I missed out on a social event due to work. This movie reminds me of how lucky I am to have achieved my dream as well as live it every day.
Oftentimes in life, dreams are not fully reached, but what we find along the way is that new dreams, dreams we never imaged we’d have, come true. If I take some time and truly reflect on the events in my life, I can assure you I did not have them mapped out, but they turned out better than I ever could have dreamed.
Our founding fathers had a dream, and because of that we are living in this incredible country. While the world is a crazy place, it is our place, at this moment. Aren’t you grateful that they dared to dream? I hope you can find the moments in your life when your dreams come true and you are able to savor these moments. Dreams don’t last forever, and at some point you will only have your memories of the dream and your achievements. I pray that all of your dreams may come true.
Your dream-filled Innkeeper,
Jason
Great letter! Thank you for sharing your dream!!
Love to visit your dining room when I visit. Delicious food!!
Thank you for this. It really helped me to reflect on my life to see all the unplanned dreams that came true. Life isn’t usually predictable– it’s the unpredictable moments that change our perspective and help us to unearth new dreams.
Keep dreaming!
Such beautiful heartfelt words to reflect upon . Thank you for sharing such lovely , thoughts of appreciation and inspiration !
What a beautiful “view from your heart” this morning! I have not had the privilege of staying there yet, but have had several “God dates” for lunch! Love looking out the windows and watching the cardinal birds and squirrels jumping on the branches of the trees. I know it is summer, but Christmas last year was so majestic! I’m so glad your dreams were turned into reality! While others are enjoying your dream, we are creating dreams of our own. I’ve been “blessed by your blessing!”
Thank you for sharing! You seem thoughtful and well spoken!
My wife and I really enjoyed your inn. Well executed operation Jason. I hope we have a chance to wander back soon.
