Letter from Jason — Connecting, and Reconnecting

Dear Honey Run Friends,

Last weekend, I like many of you, was working in the yard preparing for the Memorial Day holiday. My main chore was to fix-up the fire pit so I could enjoy the first fire of the season. After I had relocated most of the stones and had set them in the internationally-accepted circle pattern, I decided to catch my breath. So I sat on the Gator leaning on the steering wheel listening to the bird songs and enjoying the cool breeze. Through the trees on the other side of the creek I observed a couple of our guests on the yellow trail walking back and forth from the path to the field. My curiosity was piqued. What are they doing?

As I watched them for a few minutes longer, I saw them both run from the path, kneel down holding hands as they looked into each other’s eyes with the sun drenched farm field in the background. I realized what they were doing. They were capturing a romantic moment in a picture with their camera that was on the path.

Sheep grazing in a sunny field

The moment touched me. It made me begin to reflect on the countless couples I have encountered over my time at Honey Run, who share with me their wonderful anniversary stories and how much they love to come to Honey Run as their anniversary getaway. During my stroll down memory lane, I also recalled an evening not too long ago where two couples in Tarragon struck up a conversation during dinner. They were seated at neighboring tables and each was celebrating an anniversary. One couple was celebrating their 65th anniversary and the other couple was celebrating their first. It was touching to overhear the couple sharing their insights on how to experience a lifetime of love while making their marriage last for two-thirds of a century. The newly-married couple seemed to genuinely appreciate the interaction, unable to wipe away their smiles.

The Inn at Honey Run was created to be a respite for couples to reunite and thankfully I see this mission in motion every day. I hope you are able to share your special day with us and find the joy and connection that thousands of couples have found on these hallowed grounds.

See you soon,
Jason

    Hi Jason,
I had to respond to your letter. My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary at the Inn at Honey Run last year and had the most wonderful time. We were greeted in our room with a lovely wine and cheese platter, and enjoyed a delicious appetizer plate and drink before our first massage ever. Then we returned to our Honeycomb to dress up for a romantic and exquisitely prepared dinner where we, too, met others who were celebrating their anniversaries. After dinner we strolled contentedly back to our Honeycomb room – which was beautiful. In the morning we enjoyed a refreshing breakfast and went out to hike the trails on the property. You have a piece of heaven there. I look forward to returning many more times and have shared our impressions with all we know. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.

It is such a special place to celebrate milestones! Celebrated my hub’s b-day there last summer in a honeycomb suite and we will be arriving today to celebrate our anniversary, this time staying in a superior room with 2 wonderful add-on packages and hopefully will enjoy a meal at the wonderfully spoken of and highly rated Tarragon restaurant! Thank you for this WONDERFUL place!!!!

We spent our honeymoon at the Inn back in 1985. We have returned to the Inn for EVERY anniversary since then. We consider our annual trip as a sort of “marriage retreat” where we can reflect on the events of the past year and make plans for the future. Our goal is to spend an anniversary in each and every room of the Inn. Last year we “finished” up the Honeycombs, so we will be back in the main Inn this August 10th. See you then!!!
