Letter from Jason – August 2017

Posted on August 2, 2017
in Letters from Jason, Newsletter Content, Newsletters

Dear Honey Run Guests,

The beauty of the Holmes County countryside continues to amaze me daily. I moved to The Inn the day I closed on the purchase, and I was in culture shock for the first ninety days. Leaving the city and all the trappings of urban life caused a jolt to my system. Eight years later I would not have traded a moment of this new life. Instead of running from store to store or entertainment venue to entertainment venue, I now take a walk through the forest, or I sit and listen to the wildlife. Instead of sirens and traffic in the evening, I now listen to the owls communicating from tree to tree. I watch the sheep enjoy the cool of the evening as they head out of the barn to get their fill of the fresh growth in the pasture. I watch my Amish neighbors cultivate their gardens and work their fields in preparation of the fall harvest. This lifestyle is certainly different from the city, but different is good.

The generic statement we throw around about finding a life balance and slowing down to “smell the roses” is often used and rarely observed. Life was meant to be enjoyed. Each moment is temporary, and our life experience is made up of millions of these single moments, many lasting only seconds. Challenge yourself to do one of the hardest things for an American to do, slow down. Stop, listen to the birds, watch the wind sway the treetops, and reward your soul with some forest therapy.

I hope you allow yourself to fill a few of those seconds with a peaceful retreat to The Inn at Honey Run. I promise if you allow yourself to stop and be, you will not be disappointed.

Your aiming-for-life-balance Innkeeper,
Jason

A nice read! While I have been to Holmes County many times I have yet to try this Inn. ~

    Dear Jason,
Nearly 20 years ago, we came to The Inn at Honey Run for the first time. It was recommended by a patient of mine. He said it was the most peaceful place on earth. He was right!
We drove down from Elyria, for lunch and booked our first stay that very day.
Each year we return. If we can’t stay for a weekend or even overnight due to work schedules and finances, we at least MUST get to the Inn to connect with peace, with nature , with quiet and with each other. Our next stay is booked for September 13th. We have had to reschedule several times because of various things, but we WILL be there…we MUST!
So much has changed at The Inn; but so much remains the same. We will keep coming back as long as the Lord allows.
May God bless you and your amazing staff at the Inn at Honey Run.

Always love the sharing of your heart. Is the open art walk doable for some one who uses a rollater?

Hi Lee, While the Art Museum trail is not very doable with a walker, we would be more than happy to accommodate your needs with a golf cart tour if you call in advance to schedule! Feel free to contact our front desk at 330-674-0011

” Each moment is temporary ” I will strive to allow this simple thought to light my path each and every blessed day. What you shared will touch lives and by helping others you help yourself.

    Lee,,
We can’t say enough about Honey Run. For the past five years we have stayed for three days at Thanksgiving. Also we spend 3 days in February. We prefer to stay in the Inn in Room 127. We enjoy the dining menu that never fails to impress us. Breakfast is also a treat. Look forward to spending this Thanksgiving at the Inn.

    Dear Jason,

My mother and I have enjoyed our October trip to Honey Run for the past 5 years. We have our reservations since last October to enjoy the beautiful countryside and your amazing hospitality. I’m afraid that this will be my last visit to Holmes County with my precious mother of 79 years of age. She is very sick and declining very quickly. This visit will be very difficult for me because I will making my final memories with the greatest and bravest woman I have every known in my life. Please know that Honey Run has been created some of the most beautiful memories for Mama and me. I thank you so much for your vision and making every day count. You have done this for the two of us in the biggest way possible.
Wishing you and yours the very best at The Inn at Honey Run.
    Gratefully and Abundant Blessings,
    Lisa Cox

Great post! It is clear that the Inn is run by passionate caring staff who aim to provide a true sanctuary for guests — enabling them to connect more deeply with themselves & others throughout the duration of their stay.
