Letter from Jason — April 2014

Dear Honey Run Friends,

Why do we love the underdog? I think it is because of their story. How many of us can remember the Cinderella team from the 2000 NCAA tournament? I would venture to guess you would have to Google the results to remember. What about that child who has a broken home life and no prospect of ever going on to college, but through hard work and a great mentor they not only make it to college, but excel in the rest of their life? These results are only possible with a dream. And their dreams develop their story, which inspires ours.

To dream is to be filled with hope for a strongly desired goal or purpose.

Hiking Trails Ohio Amish Country Retreat
Enjoy the journey.

What I love most about dreams is the story of the impossible dream. In “Man of La Mancha” the great song, “The Impossible Dream,” has a melody and lyrics that have always inspired me. It is this call to action that opens the story of his life. I read every biography I can get my hands on of business men and women who have a dream and follow them. This has helped me along my journey. It is not so I will learn to write computer code and develop the world’s most successful software company, or because I love confection recipes and will perfect the milk chocolate recipe to create a chocolate empire, but instead, what I glean from these stories is persistence and hope.

I learn that while we all want success it is often through our failures and missteps that we develop our character. And it is with this character that we share our gifts with our fellow man and we write our story. The story of how we overcome adversity to make our mark on this life. We learn from each other’s story all while we each are writing our own. It is truly inspiring and magical if you are able to stop, hear, and be; and let your story come to life.

Dream the impossible dream. Who knows — it could come true. And if it doesn’t, I promise you will not regret the journey. I hope you make The Inn at Honey Run a part of your story and process and use this retreat of serenity and centering to create your master work.

See you soon,
Jason

Inspring words, Jason. So happy to have been a part of The Inn at Honey Run for many years. Having spent a serene St Patrick’s day at the Inn was such a change than the yearly crowded festivities of a downtown city.

Lisa and I have been visiting here since 1984. Never realized till our last stay that our first stay was only a year after the opening. We have always looked to our stay as a time to reflect, restore and rejuvenate our souls. I use this opportunity to ponder family, career and spiritual direction as well as decompress from the day to day. Many thanks for keeping the ambience connected to the original vision.

    Jim
