Inn at Honey Run News

Letter from Jason – May 2022

Posted on May 2, 2022
in Letters from Jason, Newsletter Content, Newsletters

Dear Honey Run Friends,

All of you have been very kind to me over the past few months. I have written of my struggles with staffing, and you have provided me with encouraging letters. One guest even sent me a daily devotional that has blessed my daily readings. It truly is humbling. Your kindness has made me reflect on the situation and the community we have at The Inn at Honey Run. When I purchased The Inn in 2009 it was supposed to be just a stepping stone in my pursuit of building my “empire.” Little did I know that as I grew, matured, and allowed Honey Run to fully capture me in her clutch, I would realize that I don’t need an “empire” to be satisfied in life. I fell in love with The Inn over the past decade and it has become evident to me that this is the place that God wants me to be for the foreseeable future.

The community of guests, staff, vendors, and artists here, many of which I have daily interactions with, have taught me that it is not the gifts I can provide them and you, but it is the blessing that all of you are to my life. I remember learning this lesson on my first short-term mission trip to Uganda. I thought I was taking Jesus to poor and lost people overseas, but it quickly became evident that they were showing me Jesus and Agape love. I learned that the only poor one was me.

This recurring lesson is not by accident. Clearly, the lesson I am learning is that while I am a child of God and I am loved, I am not as important as I think at times. I have also learned that I need people. I need all of you. Many of you bless me without even trying. When I get to watch you at The Inn enjoying some serenity or seeing your faces light up as your meal comes out of the kitchen at Tarragon, it warms my heart. Hearing your countless stories of your life struggles and hearing you share your faith over a quiet moment in front of the fireplace add moments of grace to my soul.

I never imagined what The Inn at Honey Run could be beyond a nice hotel and restaurant, until I was shown. Now I don’t have to imagine. I get the honor and privilege to live it each day with all of you. Thank you for your friendship. Thank you for your supportive words. Thank you for making all this possible. Without your support and business, The Inn at Honey Run would not exist. Please help me continue this great tradition so we can honor Marge Stock’s original vision for the Inn and prepare this Inn so that in 20 years we can pass this Inn and its special community on to the next generation and generations to come.

Your humbled and grateful Honey Run community member,

Jason

Over the past years we have frequented The Inn. We truly agree with comments about what The Inn means to you.
Because of Covid and advanced age, we are hesitant traveling at this time. The Inn is hopefully in our future. It is true tranquil paradise on earth.

I stayed at The Inn in February while I was in the area to do some work at the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center. I picked The Inn because there was a well-regarded restaurant onsite, but I ended up falling in love with the place and have already scheduled my next visit, this time just for fun!

Love this letter! I have had the privilege of knowing you in your “younger” days and watching you grow into an amazing human! The Inn is such a reflection of your love of God and His wonderful creation. Thanks for the care you give the Inn and all your guests.

So refreshing to see someone express love and spirituality in these trying days! We love the Inn. We feel the peace and love every time we stay. Prayers the Inn will overcome its present problems.
