One of the first couple’s I spoke to planning their September 2016 wedding was Kip and Kristina from Blacklick, Ohio. I could tell right away that they were meant for each other – everything about them clicked. They were ready to plan their perfect wedding day, and The Inn at Honey Run was their ideal place. I could not wait to assist them with their wedding plans!
You may remember this blog post where I shared the story of Kip’s custom cheese box that he created to house a gift for Kristina before they held their ceremony. When he told me about the thought and time he put into making this one-of-a-kind piece, I knew that nothing could go wrong and it was going to be the perfect day.
Fast forward to taking a wrong turn on the trail and getting the golf cart stuck in the mud during their first look. Note to self: always have a backup plan, don’t panic, make sure the people who you are stuck on the golf cart with are the kindest and most patient people on earth (thanks again for your patience, Kristina!). After that embarrassment, the show had to go on. The photographer was still able to capture the perfect shot, and Kip and Kristina were not letting anything get in the way of their wedding day.
Kip and Kristina chose to share their vows in our Treetop Pavilion around 45 of their closest friends and family members. They planned a rustic, woodland theme to enhance the beauty of our 56-acre wooded property. They joked that the amount of orange, plum, red, and yellow mums brought in created mum-a-rama and required two vehicles to transport.
Guests then entered the Hearth room to enjoy hors d’oeurves and cocktails while the newlyweds and I ventured around the property for the perfect photos (no getting stuck this time!). Kip and Kristina chose the Sage Room as their reception venue as they loved the views of the woods and the ability to customize the look with romantic lighting and elegant décor.
The guests enjoyed our Chef’s pan roasted pork loin and baked trout with pesto, not to mention a decadent and delicious three-tier cake by Mary Lee Cakes. The night moved to dancing, and for those who preferred to keep their dancing shoes at home, spent a quiet evening under the stars on our Sage Deck.
Working with Kip and Kristina to create their perfect wedding day never felt like a day of “work.” It was a pleasure watching them enjoy their first moments as husband and wife, and I am looking forward to their many anniversaries and return trips to The Inn!
