Throughout the season, you can come visit with Uncle Andy and Aunt Mattie and learn all about their process for making famous apple butter: they stir apple butter all day long, and then portion it out in jars for public sale. They’ll even let you have a turn on the stirring position to get a real feel for how their apple butter is made.
Celebrate in Swiss Style at the Ohio Swiss Festival
The Ohio Swiss Cheese Association started the Ohio Swiss Festival in 1953 as a way to sell its extra cheese and celebrate Swiss roots in Sugarcreek. Today, it includes live music, cheese competitions, antique cars, and even a parade. There may be holes in the cheese, but you won’t find any in the schedule.
Time Travel to Colonial Williamsburg at Pine Tree Barn
Every fall for over 20 years, the Pine Tree Barn transforms into a colonial village where you can meet blacksmiths and wool spinners crafting their wares just as they would have over 200 years ago in Colonial Williamsburg. A buggy ride will be a wonderful way to see the countryside; we would also recommend taking a relaxing walk or a hike to see our flora and fauna up close. Here are few ideas for local walks. We do provide room service — you’ll find a menu in your room. It’s lighter fare than in the dining room, mostly sandwiches.
