Mixed media artist from Columbus, OH, Katharine Marie, is the next resident artist for The Inn at Honey Run’s Open Air Art Museum (OAAM). Kat will be spending at least five days each month, for the next five months, building a life-sized cuckoo clock made of mostly organic materials found on and around the property.
The use of the German-style cuckoo clock will celebrate the Amish culture and German-named towns of the surrounding area of Holmes County. The installation will live as the end-cap of the OAAM trail. Walking through the time-piece is intended to serve as a sort of reward.
“This installation has special meaning to me as I completed a series that represented the A.M. hours in 2013. This installation will represent the P.M. hours, the latter half of the day, and goes perfectly with the idea of completion,” said Katharine Marie.
The installation is estimated to be around 10-feet tall and is slated for completion in the early fall of 2016.
“I am encouraging people that hike the trail to leave behind their walking stick at the installation to be incorporated into the piece during its creation.”
