Visit Historic Millersburg, Ohio

in Around the Inn

Our guests are most certainly visiting the Inn for the peace and comfort of a country escape, and we’ve got plenty of open space here on the Honey Run grounds to enjoy a weekend full of entertainment and relaxation. However, our closest neighboring town is the historic Millersburg, Ohio, a place worth visiting if you’re from out of town and looking to explore the area around the Inn.

Located in Holmes County, Millersburg was settled as early as 1815 and has a population today of just over 3,000 people. Surrounded by farms and fields, Millersburg is the perfect gateway to Ohio’s Amish Country.

Things to Do in Millersburg, Ohio

If you’re visiting us from far away, take in a bit of the local culture to get a sense of what northeastern Ohio has to offer by way of culture and lifestyle. The people are a friendly sort and have no trouble directing you to their favorite diner, landmark, or antique shop.

French Ridge Vineyard

French Ridge Vineyards

Holmes County has its own family owned and operated winery that sits atop a high ridge overlooking the natural hills and valleys of the county. The view is spectacular and the wine is delightful. Stroll their vineyards or sit and relax with a glass.

Shop Antiques

A well-known pastime for those visiting Appalachia and Amish Country is the plundering of old antique stores ripe with various artifacts of a time long gone. Millersburg has two shops that carry vintage cargo; Starlight Antiques and Village Antiques Emporium. Both offer a sampling of old time tools, clothing, photographs, and hand-made quilts. The Holmes County Antique Festival is the centerpiece of local antiquing and takes place in October.

Guggisberg Cheese

For the true cheese connoisseur, there’s no better place than the place where Alfred Guggisberg set up shop in 1947 to patent his very own Baby Swiss cheese, now famous the world over for smaller holes and better flavor. Goes great with the wine at French Ridge!

Fire Ridge Golf Course

Fire Ridge Golf Course

For those looking to get out on the links and take in a relaxing 18 holes, the Fire Ridge Golf Course is an excellent local option. The course has existed since 1929 and offers enough of a challenge for experienced golfers but nothing too difficult for the casual golfer.

Local Tours

There’s a lot of history in these parts and several ways to take it all in. Several local operations cater to tourism with backcountry tours of Amish country, the local train tracks and trails, and even a tour of Holmes County jails. Pick an interest and there’s a tour to show you around.

Honey Run is proud to be located right next to a small, historical village full of people who enjoy the simple things in life; family, food, history, and craftsmanship. Pay us a visit and glimpse the simple life.
