November Letter from Jason

Posted on November 2, 2015
in Letters from Jason, Seasonal

      November 2015

Dear Honey Run Friends,

What an amazing fall season we’ve had this year. The weather has been mild and sunny most days and the Autumn change has been slow and steady. I keep expecting the trend to stop and yet we continue to receive a reprieve. But the end of fall is near and winter is just around the corner.

As I think about the coming weeks of November, I would be remiss not to share my excitement for this time leading up to Thanksgiving and climaxing with Christmas. This season holds a perfect balance of joy and sorrow, revelry and contemplation; a perfect juxtaposition to keep my emotions in check.

While I share my time of reflection, I want to begin with all that I have to be thankful for in my life. I am thankful for my family, my friends, and all who support me. Many successful people like to say that they are “self-made” or pound their chest in pride at what “they” have accomplished and, while I share their pride in the milestones in my life, I certainly would not have the arrogance to think that I did it on my own. I had years of selfless teachers, mentors, and family who gave freely of themselves to help me develop into the man that I am today.

Additional contributors to my success include my investors and the financial institutions that have had enough faith in me to give of their treasure so that I could pursue my dreams.

And finally the team; my exceptional employees. While the vast majority could care less about my dreams or success they are a valuable and important level to who I am. I spend every day working side by side with them to create the best experience possible for our guests and while they are here to feed their families and make their own dreams, they are also building mine with each step of our progress. We normally have around forty team members at any given time and over the course of my six years at the Inn we have had over two-hundred souls pass through in some capacity. Two-hundred!  That is an entire company in the army. That is a tremendous amount of people for a simple guy from Columbus, trying to be an innkeeper, to work with over time.

So as I prepare to give thanks this year, know that each and every one of these blessings that have come into my life are not lost on a chest-pounding prideful man but rather they are cherished by a thirty-seven year old dreamer who is humbled at the thought of all of these gifts God has brought into my life.

I pray that you can see all the gifts that are in your life, regardless of your situation at this moment. We all have cheerleaders and team members helping us along our journey. Meet them with Gratitude.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Your very thankful and grateful innkeeper,

Jason
