Interview with Leah Addison, Wedding Coordinator at The Inn at Honey Run
Growing up in the small town of Uhrichsville, OH, Leah Addison has always had a place in her heart for quaint, rural towns, which is what led her to Millersburg. Leah joined our team as the Wedding Coordinator in January 2016 and brings with her experience as a wedding coordinator with a catering company in Canton. As a 2011 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Leah received her degree in Electronic Media with a minor in Business and continues to be a proud Bearcat alumna.
This month we interviewed Leah to share with you how she came to find her passion for weddings at The Inn. This is the first in a series of blogs where Leah will share advice, stories from real weddings, and more as it relates to first-hand experiences, wedding planning, and everyday life at The Inn. IHR: Why are you passionate about weddings?
Leah: Growing up, my grandma and I would find any excuse to put together a party. She taught me everything I know about entertaining, guest etiquette, and coordination. I remember when she used to take me as her plus one to family weddings and would let me buy a new dress with matching accessories from JCPenney. It was at the weddings we would attend that I would absorb all of the details that surrounded me, and eventually used those details in our own party planning, years later. I didn’t realize my passion for wedding coordinating until helping a coworker with her wedding details.
IHR: What drew you to The Inn at Honey Run?
Leah: I remember arriving here and immediately feeling the sense of serenity and relaxation that this property offers! After receiving a tour of the grounds and falling in love with all of the details– the plush rooms, diverse wildlife, and unique art trail – I wanted to help brides realize and bring-to-life their dream weddings, right here.
IHR: What is your favorite part of the wedding day?
Leah: After the ceremony, I love grabbing a drink for the bride and groom and taking them on our golf cart with the photographer for photos. It’s incredible to share such an intimate moment with two people and their families. For that one hour we get to laugh, cry, and smile about all that led up to their special day.
IHR: What is your most useful planning tip?
Leah: Use websites like Pinterest sparingly. These websites have a ton of great ideas that can help put all of your ideas in one place. Although they have become an integral part of the planning process for many brides, they can hinder creativity and show images with higher priced items that can be hard to come by. Instead, consider hiring a wedding planner that will help bring your design ideas to life at a reasonable price. Planners can end up saving you a lot of money and are professional designers that can make your Pinterest board a reality!
IHR: Where can we find you when you aren’t planning weddings at The Inn?
Leah: I recently joined an indoor volleyball league without knowing anyone else! It’s fun to meet people this way and stay active doing something I enjoy. I love to find any reason to get out of my apartment, including exploring the new downtown Canton shops and restaurants. Downtown Canton First Friday is one of my favorite events!
Awesome article on an AWESOME PERSON!!! 🙂 Great work Leah, I hope I get to experience your services one day!
