Inn at Honey Run News

Letter from Jason – March 2018

Dear Honey Run Friends,

The quiet of winter is hard some days as we are slower during those cold dark months. This is the time of year we work on deep cleaning rooms, remodeling projects, analyzing the past year’s successes and failures, and dreaming of the future. The future is what gets me excited. Maintaining the serenity of our resort but adding experiences that will enrich each visit for you is our mission. We have been testing our maple trees for their sap production, and I am excited to see that we will begin next winter tapping our trees and boiling our own Honey Run Maple Syrup. The Chef and I checked on our beehives. Things are looking good, and many have overwintered well. We will be adding to our existing hives this spring to bring us up to 20 active beehives. Our first phase of the new 2-acre gardens will be planted this spring with the fruit trees and berry bushes being installed. We are working this year on getting a well in the garden for a watering source and laying out the vegetable and herb beds which we will begin planting the spring of 2019. We are working with the designer to create our vision for the new Club-Level Suites this year and hope to begin work in 2019 on these enhanced rooms. We continue to discuss the addition of the wellness oasis and all the varied self-treatments and exercise tools that will be available for you to experience and our hope is that this will be open in the next two to five years. We are meeting with artists to plan the next installation at the Holmes County Open Air Art Museum. So, as you can see, we have many exciting experiences in varied stages of progress.

My dream for The Inn at Honey Run is that as we add these experiences you as guests find serenity and make lasting memories while experiencing our natural boutique resort. These amenities are in harmony with the earth and are created solely with your mental and physical health in mind. We want to offer you as much or as little to do while you visit as what you require to become recharged and ready to reenter the busy world you know as your life. Walking through the garden with the Chef to pick the dinners’ vegetables, listening to the symphony of birds while absorbing the latest art addition to the forest, sipping a glass of wine while watching the fresh collected sap transform into maple syrup – these activities bring your soul out of the technology world and unite you with the natural world, giving you a moment to catch your breath, and be.

Well, it appears that we are starting to warm up in the coming weeks, and the flowers are starting to awaken from their slumber. Many of you are doing the same, and we are looking forward to seeing you reappear from the winter hibernation and sharing with you this respite we all love.

Your excited for spring Innkeeper,

Jason

    Jason,

Thank you for this beautiful post and sharing your vision of the coming spring and the movements of nature. I will be joining you on Sunday for a week and am excited to meet your bees and stroll through your outdoor museum.
