Inn at Honey Run News

Letter from Jason – May 2020

Posted on May 2, 2020
in Letters from Jason

Dear Honey Run Friends,

Friday evening, I was walking through The Inn to do some work, and I noticed the hum in the Tarragon kitchen from all the coolers and ice makers. The kitchen has been silent for seven weeks as we closed everything down due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Tarragon team started re-cleaning and turning on the equipment Friday in preparation for our reopening Friday May 8th, 2020. I did not realize how much I missed this humming sound until it returned.

The hum of the kitchen is like the beating of our hearts. It is the necessary function for us to be alive. These past few moths we have been in a coma just waiting to reawaken, and we are finally coming out of this time of quarantine. Yes, we have many new health protocols we will have to observe going forward, but we are alive and able to begin living in this new age.

The beauty of difficult situations is watching how we as humans adapt to our circumstances to live, work, and play. This pandemic has taken many lives and caused fear in many more. It has forced us into hibernation and caused many of us to live an existence we never imagined. It has also given us a glimpse of life without human contact. We were not designed to be in isolation. We were designed to be in relationship with each other and this includes the human touch. Even a simple handshake says to our fellow man I acknowledge and appreciate you. While the challenge of social distancing will be with us for some time, we can start to find safe and creative ways to begin claiming back our created purpose of community.

I am excited to begin welcoming you back to The Inn at Honey Run this week. I am excited to share the beauty of the resort grounds with you as the trees are starting to leaf and the flowers are living into their purpose and rising from the ground. I appreciate your support during these challenging months and our entire team is excited to serve you as you return even with some unusual business practices to keep us all safe. We have been working hard to maintain the resort and even upgrade some things during this closure to provide you a better experience. This has allowed us to keep all our team members employed and to keep their families afloat during these challenging times. We are excited to offer you the serenity and connection our property and team was created to share.

Your lonely for only a couple more days innkeeper,

Jason

This is joyous news, Jason! You and the team have been on our hearts for so long, ever since you made the difficult decision to close down for a while. Your good news has really lifted our spirits. We’ll be thinking about all of you as you re-open on Friday and hope to see you in person soon. Until then, we wish you all the best.

We have been guests at the Inn at Honey Run nearly 35 years. It is so gratifying to know that the Inn will be starting up soon. The Inn is a sanctuary for the senses and for the mind. Beauteous woods, rolling hills, and breathtaking views revive the spirit — something we all need at this time. Looking forward to a visit!

Good news Jason and thanks for all you did in the interim. It was good news to hear about all of the staff. To know that Honey Run will open is that glimmer of hope that gives us courage to keep on keeping on. Thanks for the light you brought to my world today.
