Letter from Jason – May 2021

in Letters from Jason, Newsletters

Dear Honey Run Friends,

Last year at this time, I was writing you about the excitement and anticipation of The Inn reopening after seven weeks of being closed due to the pandemic. This May, after a year of safely navigating Covid-19 and being open for business, I am overwhelmed with the beauty of spring. We have enjoyed a warmer than usual start to the year with some winter setbacks. As I watch God stroke his paintbrush on the forest, I am humbled and in awe of the beauty that surrounds me.

The shapes, colors, and life growing in this scene are overwhelming my senses. The sight of the trees budding and starting to leaf, the flowers pushing through the dirt and coming alive in color, and the filling of the voids in the forest, is better than any movie or television show. The sounds of the birds chirping, or the rustling of leaves and sticks on the ground as a groundhog scurries, as squirrels frolic, as the creek flow intensifies over the rocks, is a heavenly symphony that calms my soul. The smells of fresh flowers and blossoming trees, cut grass from growing lawns, and spring rains, awakens my nose and brings me joy. The feeling of the warmer air and the sunshine on my skin comforts me and motivates my body to leave its winter slumber. The taste of fresh berries, fruits, and vegetables from the garden causes an explosion of flavors in my mouth and makes me question why I eat all those processed foods. Spring has arrived. The rebirth of nature is a sight I will never grow tired of witnessing. I feel truly blessed to be here today at this moment to experience this day in spring.

I pray you share the excitement I do of spring and I pray that your busy life allows you to take a few moments and capture this moment in time. To make a memory and hold this beauty inside you when you are experiencing a dark day in your life. Remember that each dark day leads to a rebirth and a new day of life.

Your hopeful spring enthusiast Innkeeper,

Jason

Reading this brought tears to my eyes. This past year has taught me to be even more grateful than ever before and to appreciate nature and the people around me. I am thankful and joyful 😀

Rebirth is definitely in the air around us. For some reason so is the busyness of life! Trying to get through the busyness without ignoring the beauty surrounding us all. Thank you and your horticulturist for the pictures and words to reflect upon.
