Letter From Jason – March 2022

Posted on March 3, 2022
in Letters from Jason, Newsletters

Dear Honey Run Friends,

I could write about the cold weather and how I am tired of winter (I have done this many times before).
I could write about the fear that the Ukrainian and Russian people are facing as the Russian invasion in Ukraine pushes on.
I could write about the starving homeless child in a third world country who has lost both parents to AIDS and has no one to raise him or provide food and shelter.
I could go on and on with the evil and devastating effects we humans cause upon each other with our self-centered actions.

Or I could write about a touching story some guests shared with me this past month about their beloved dog, Noel. I could also share about the many loving coupes we served this past month as they enjoyed some much-needed quiet time and connection over the Valentine’s Day holiday.

As a child I was reprimanded for my poor attitude. My life outlook and attitude oozed out of me and my angst and anger for life bled into all my interactions. Thankfully, my life changed in my early twenties. I attribute all this change to finally meeting and accepting Jesus into my life. Knowing God changed my lens in which I look at this life through. I still see the pain and devastation of war, but I have hope. I still see starvation and deplorable living conditions around the world, but now I ask how I can help be an agent of change. Life is challenging and we are always facing difficulties, but I have learned if you focus on helping your neighbor, challenges can bring joy. Joy of a new relationship, joy of overcoming the challenge with friends, or the joy of offering love to those around me.

The month of March is named for the Roman god of war, Mars. Tradition is that in March the soldiers go out to war after the winter calm. How did we get the beauty of spring from the month of war? My prayer is we lay down our weapons and choose to go to war against evil this March. I pray we each help just one person we know in need and if they repay the favor and help one person, this multiplying affect could change the world. I’m not naïve enough to think that all the evils in the world will disappear, but I know that the evils will not prevail. Sure, it may seem as though evil is winning, but this victory is temporary and good will and does triumphantly win.

The Christian calendar just began the season of Lent. This is my favorite time of the year. It is a 40-day march towards Easter, the day that evil lost its hold on this world. I hope life is being kind to you at this moment and that you are able to share this kindness with someone who is struggling. I hope you choose to march to war for good and share the beauty of spring, rebirth, and the sun-filled days with someone who is hurting and needs a friend. Sharing a blessing will reward your spirit and give you a hint of the serenity found at The Inn at Honey Run.

Your positive attitude Innkeeper,

Jason

Your letter always bless me this one is exceptional. Ron and I have walked your trails many times. We have wild flowers in our property from the inn when they were for sale in the spring. As my husband battles lymphoma and other health issues we can not visit the inn but your monthly post keeps us connected to beautiful times
Keep up the good work. May blessings abound

Thanks for sharing your heart and challenging us put feet to our faith in these dark days. May we humbly hear and obey HIS voice until he returns.

    Blessings!
Glad you were touched by our Noel’s story.

I enjoyed your uplifting newsletter for March! We had stopped by for a short walk yesterday and were disappointed to hear the lodge is closed Monday and Tuesday. I didn’t see anything about it on your website. We hope you have an enjoyable spring!

My husband and I were so happy to meet you and have a chance to chat by the fireplace last evening. Your positive innkeeper side shines through in your conversation. I can tell you really love what you do and cherish your guests. Meeting regulars Paul and Mary was a delight as well.
A stay at Inn at Honey Run is just what we needed after a long winter.
We agree that 32 years in between visits is way too long. See you in the fall.
