Letter From Jason – December 2021

Dear Honey Run Friends,

Silence is a forgotten need in our lives. I have grown to appreciate peace and quiet. What I have found as I age is that I require times of silence on a regular basis to stay centered and keep my soul full of joy. I recently had the opportunity to travel for a short few days to the beach to try to recharge. Being away from work and the daily barrage of phone calls was just what I needed. In addition to the slowdown from work I was seeking some quiet time. I use this quiet time to talk to God and to listen for his response.

Unfortunately, I could not find this much needed quiet. There were too many people on the beach carrying on conversations. The hotel had corporate groups drinking, playing corn hole, and blasting music. There was a construction crew jackhammering and making a constant hum of construction sounds. I was longing for The Inn at Honey Run and the serenity it offers. Quiet is our best amenity at The Inn.

Winter brings the cold, but it also brings beautiful scenery, and much more importantly, it brings in a silent season. The chirping insects have taken to their winter slumber. The usual sounds of the warmer weather months come to a halt and we quickly find ourselves in the silent winter. This season recharges my soul.

Music, conversation, and joyous laughter are all important and have their place, but so does silence. We need a balance of all things to keep our souls centered and at peace. As we find ourselves in this advent season, I pray that you have some moments of silence so your soul can heal and be centered on the purpose of your life.

I pray that as this year comes to a close, you and your family are blessed and at peace. I pray that as you find time for some silent reflection you will be able to thank God for all of your blessings this past year. I pray that while you are thanking God, you have the silent time to hear him whisper back to you how much he loves you.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you and your staff this holiday season. My husband and I have spent many lovely times dining at lunch time at the Tarragon and are so disappointed that you are no longer offering lunch. I hope that you will consider beginning it again in the new year.

Thank you for your beautiful inn and the happy memories we have created there.

I really enjoy all your letters and comments. You have such a way of saying things I’m sure many of us would like to say but do not have the ability as you have. My husband and I have stayed at the inn a couple of times. You are right it is so relaxing. I remember our last visit our room wasn’t ready, so we took a walk up the hill through your forest. We found two chairs at the top to just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. I certainly hope you still have those chairs at the top. To relax and enjoy the view, also a much needed rest to continue the path down. Thanks for all your hard work.
Merry Christmas to you and all your staff and a Very Happy New Year.

I am new to the Inn at Honey Run, my first encounter was a get away by myself to find peace and quiet. My retreat gave me a chance to pray and seek The Lord for new direction and guidance from the Holy Spirt. My husband and I are planning a stay for our 20th anniversary. I can not wait to experience the beauty of the grounds my favorite are the sheep. Thank you for all you and your staff do to make our time absolutely perfect. God Bless.

I totally agree with you, Jason. In the past couple of years, I too have come to appreciate, dare I say, embrace the cold, dark days of winter. Nature tells us that this is a season of rest and contemplation. Oh if we could only recognize it! God is so good to keep us warm and fed during this magical season. God bless you, Jason and your staff. Merry Christmas!
