February Letter from Jason

Dear Honey Run Friends,

The mild winter we have experienced this year in Millersburg has me facing a multitude of emotions. Don’t get me wrong, it is nice to not have to travel treacherous roads that are covered in snow and ice, but I am missing it some. My favorite part of winter is when we have a heavy snowfall that brings everything in our busy world to a sudden standstill. The quietness of the day, walking through the forest amidst the gently falling snow is one of my most favorite activities. Despite the lack of winter I have had some time during this slower season at the Inn to reflect. What I have come to realize is that I genuinely love living in the country. When I first moved here nearly seven years ago I could not return to the city fast enough. Over time the conveniences of city life have lessened in importance as the cycles of the country lifestyle have taken center stage. Watching the farms come to life each spring, and the birds find their way back to our sanctuary as the forest starts to blossom has become an integral part of my life. I find myself longing for time to watch the lambs frolic and jump in the newly birthed pasture. Instead of heading to the mall for entertainment, I walk the Open Air Art Museum and spend time talking to Walter Herrmann our artist in residence this year. What I have discovered in life is that nature provides the backdrop for a wonderfully enriched life of peace. As I continue to grow in my new found lifestyle, I am inspired daily, learning of more self-sufficient ways to live off the land. I have big dreams for what The Inn at Honey Run and I can grow into in the coming years and I look forward to sharing this journey with each of you.

I hope to see you at The Inn soon.

Jason

Always fun to read your blog. So many wonderful memories from Honeymoon Run. Hoping to create more when we are able to travel again. My husband just returned home after 4 surgeries in 4 months and 6 months in nursing rehab. We are blessed to have a ravine view from our dining area and it so reminds me of Honey Run. I often pull up those Honey Run images as we dine. Wishing you the very best in your hospitality ministry.

Made reservations today to celebrate our 59th wedding anniversary at our favorite Inn. It is lovely indeed to have such a wonderful refuge near our home. Thanks for creating a haven. See you soon.
