Dear Honey Run Friends,
May I share with you a secret? Changes are coming to the Inn!
Almost two years ago I approached Laverne Hershberger of Homestead Furniture about a possible partnership with us at the Inn. We both serve on the Tourism Council for the Holmes County Chamber and over the past five years Lavern and I have shared the same voice with the council about the direction we felt the county tourism should focus on best serving the tourists and the local businesses. Lavern shared the idea with his father, Ernie, who is the owner of the business and they both liked the possibility of this partnership.
Fast forward to this week where we are almost finished with the complete remodel of the Club-Level Honeycomb rooms by Homestead Furniture. Our official reopening of the rooms is July 1st!
I am so proud of what our two businesses have produced for you! The Club-level Honeycombs have always been unique and special but with the level of furniture detail and structural finishes that Lavern and Jordan (our in-house design director) have created is nothing short of spectacular!
It has been a giant effort by our entire team at the Inn and Homestead Furniture to pull this off. I am so grateful that they have exceeded my vision and with these new rooms and will now usher in a new era of sophistication, design, comfort, and elegance never achieved at the Inn before.
I am humbled to be the steward to guide The Inn at Honey Run these days. I am grateful to all of you, all our team, and all our subcontractors, vendors, and investors.
The Inn has been open for 43 years and I have been leading the Inn for the past 17 years. Last summer I came to a fork in the road and had to decide how the future of the Inn looked and if I was to be a part of this new era. Marge Stock, our founder, always asked me if I loved the inn. You see, the Inn was a dream of hers to build and a true passion project. When I bought the Inn, I was a young and ambitious man who saw this business as a steppingstone in my career. Little did I know that after 10 years in business I too would fall in love with the Inn and realize this wasn’t a steppingstone but rather my life’s work. It took another 7 years after this realization to figure out how to sculpt the next 50 years of success for the Inn.
But last summer everything changed. We realigned staff to position ourselves for growth without losing the quiet charm of the Inn. Then we had to decide how to achieve our updating goals. The property has been painstakingly and beautifully maintained, but it was tired and needed a major investment. So, I reached out to a small group of associates and friends and in 60 days we raised the first round of funding we needed to begin with the complete renovation of all 42 rooms, Tarragon, our 2 meeting and banquet venues, and public areas. This work began in December last year and 70% will be completed by July with the remaining Inn rooms that will be completed this coming winter.
This leads us to the next step. Since the day I bought the Inn, I have dreamed of having a true spa on the property. We used to have a basic day spa that offered massages and treatments, but this never matched my vision. Last summer we began planning and we have finished our plans for a 14,000 square foot wellness spa. This new facility will include the traditional spa treatments in 6 luxurious treatment rooms along with a state-of-the-art workout facility, indoor pool, hot tub with rain feature, sauna, steam room, snow room, float pods, light therapy, salt cave, and bee therapy building. There is nothing like this in Ohio!
We are targeting a fall 2027 opening. None of this would be possible without the new investors we have welcomed to the Inn family, and we are not fully there yet. We are working now to finish the second round of investors and once complete we will begin construction. Our success for the next 50 years is only because all of you with your support by being loyal guests and the faith of the investors to join our mission to offer a retreat that is quiet by design and elevated by nature.
Please keep the Inn in your prayers as we embark on this exciting new era of improvements while keeping the essence of what The Inn at Honey Run has always been. Pray that the remaining investors needed will join us so we can finish the great work that has begun to reimagine this incredible boutique resort and pray that these improvements will be enjoyed by all future generations as they find what we all know to be true, The Inn at Honey Run is a place for renewal, reconnection, and offers every guest a true connection we all need in this life.
Your excited and humbled innkeeper,
Jason
Jason, We have been coming to the Inn since Marge owned it. We love the ambiance and have introduced family and friends to this special place. We always feel renewed after a visit. You have done an outstanding job with executing on your vision for the Inn. We are well traveled nationally and internationally and consider the Inn at Honey Run to be one of the top small Inns in the USA.
You and your staff deserve a big ‘Thank You’ for the effort and love you invest in this property. We were just there a couple weeks ago, the end of April, and loved seeing how you’ve upgraded the Pavilion.
