Dear Honey Run Friends,
It is another rainy day in May, and while I am quick to complain about the cloud-covered sky and cool rain, there is a peace and calm radiating through my body as I sit on the covered porch at The Inn and listen to the soothing rhythm of the rain falling on the forest. The internal battle continues as the child in me pouts as he screams, “I want sunshine! I want warmer temperatures! I want, I want, I want!” Then I stop whining, surrender the day, and soak up the sounds of the birds chirping with the pitter patter of rain on the leaves and forest floor.
I am a man of action, and I am usually only happy when I am on the move or working on a task. Slowing down to just be still and be is not me, and yet it can be at times. While I may fight the urge to rest when I finally relent it is clear that this is what my soul needs. I need the silence away from the noise of work and life demands. I need the sounds of nature to offer the meditative stillness my inner soul cries for to fully relax. I need the energy from the abundance of life in the forest to bathe me in serenity as I rest just for these few quiet moments and contemplate all that is before me in life.
I am so grateful for God and His creation. I am so grateful for the beauty he provides us in this life. And I am so thankful that I am surrounded by this peaceful oasis on a daily basis with my work at The Inn at Honey Run. If you need to catch your breath and pause life for a moment, I hope you consider coming to visit us for a few days, so you can write your own meditation as you bask in the beauty that is all around us at The Inn. I hope to see you soon!
Your calm and relaxed Innkeeper,
Jason
Jason, we came up for rest and sunshine. We also received rain as you it was a blessing in disguise. Watching the birds and squirrels I experienced such joy. Lots of pictures were taken. We were blessed by the Inn and all who work there.
