Letter from Jason – July 2026

Dear Honey Run Friends,

Have you ever risked your life, your loved one’s safety, all your wealth, and your family home for something you believe? I am writing this on July 4, 2026. 250 years ago, 56 men stood up for their beliefs and did not waver knowing full well the consequences of their choice.

I found some amazing articles on the actual toll these brave men took so you and I could know a life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Here is the link to the article and here is an excerpt from the article.

https://share.google/kay7qPmJh1O6unNvF

Of those 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence, nine died of wounds or hardships during the war. Five were captured and imprisoned, in each case with brutal treatment. Several lost wives, sons or entire families. One lost his 13 children. Two wives were brutally treated. All were at one time or another the victims of manhunts and driven from their homes. Twelve signers had their homes completely burned. Seventeen lost everything they owned. Yet not one defected or went back on his pledged word. Their honor, and the nation they sacrificed so much to create, is still intact.

I am humbled by their sense of right over their own safety. I have never had such a life and death decision in my life and while I would hope I have the courage to do the same, I must ask myself, would I?

This life of ours is just the preparation for eternity. How we act and the choices we make here will carry eternal consequences. Many in our country have sacrificed their lives so we could know the greatest peace and prosperity ever experienced in human history. And yes, I know our country is not perfect, but I also know I am proud to be an American and I am grateful I am living at this moment in time. We are only guaranteed today and so we must use our most precious gift time wisely.

A heartfelt thank you to every service member and leader who has given of their time, talent, treasure, and life to allow me to live in America and have this wonderful life. My prayer is that my life and actions in life are worthy of their sacrifice.

So, as you celebrate this special holiday do not forget the price that was paid. Do not forget what so many have given to all of us that they never knew so we could live the dream they hoped.

Happy Fourth of July!

Your humbled and proudly American innkeeper,

Jason

Well said, as always Jason! As I was reading about the trials of those 56 men and the costs in their lives, I was reminded of the 12 men who walked with Jesus and the costs in their lives. Just like the 56, the 12 stood for their believes even to the point of persecution and death! Thankful for these men who stood on their convictions for truth and freedom, both in our lives and our hearts!🙏❤️🙌

Thank you for sharing this thoughtful post. I’ve not stayed at the Inn, but while in Berlin took a drive out to see the beautiful property. I have had intentions on booking, this will definitely hasten my plans to make a reservation.
