Bring your bike and ride our new the Holmes County Trail, a 12-mile paved greenway trail (plus another five miles of unpaved) One lane of the trail is paved with asphalt for biking, roller-blading, walking, running, and wheelchairs, while the other lane is paved with "chip and seal" for horse-drawn vehicles and horseback riding. The historical Millersburg depot was recently moved to the Hipp Station trailhead (at the end of W. Clinton Street), just a few miles from the Inn at Honey Run.

Homes County Trail was originally a Penn Central railroad corridor. Byway visitors may view the protected swamp areas and its native floral and wildlife as well as the fertile croplands of Amish country.

The Holmes County Trail is open from daylight to dusk. Buggy use is permitted from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. unless special arrangements have been made prior to travel with the Holmes County Trail Director. Special-use permits may be obtained for group night rides or special events from the trail director. These events must be approved and planned in advance for notification of local law enforcement agencies.

Trail restrooms are available at trailheads Millersburg Depot, Millersburg and Skip's Trail Depot, Holmesville. The Millersburg Depot provides restroom facilities throughout the year and is located in Millersburg off of Clinton and Grant Street adjacent to the Holmes County Trail. The depot serves as a trail and railroad information center as well. Picnic areas are located at each trailhead. A horse watering trough is located on the west side of the trail adjacent to the Millersburg Depot.

When traveling multi-use trails, you may encounter many different forms of trail use, such as hikers, bikers, horseback riders, roller bladders and buggy traffic, etc. Therefore the user must adjust to different regulations (who passes first, who slows down, who gets the right of way). Hikers and cyclists should always yield to horses and make their presence known well in advance. Never attempt to "hide" from approaching horses, since this may cause the horses to shy. When passing horses from behind, hikers and bikers should make the rider aware of their presence and then pass in. Never pass too close to a horse; try to keep a six-foot buffer zone.

Pets are permitted on the trail. Pets must be under the owners' control and on a maximum 6 foot leash at all times; they should never be left unattended. Please clean up pet waste. Extreme care should be taken to avoid conflicts between dogs and horses.

Mohican Valley Trail
Another bike and hike trail near Inn at Honey Run is the Mohican Valley Trail, a nature gravel trail built on an abandoned Penn Central railroad bed at the eastern edge of Knox County. This trail is 4.8 miles long and connects the villages of Brinkhaven and Danville. At Brinkhaven the trail crosses the beautiful Mohican River through a 370-foot covered bridge, the Bridge of Dreams. About a mile east of the covered bridge the trail connects with the Holmes Country Trail. The Mohican Valley Trail has a surface of crushed stone and sand.  The Bridge of Dreams was completed December 18, 1998 and dedicated April 17, 1999. The trail officially opened on June 15, 2001. The trail goes from East Street in Danville to the Holmes County Line, connecting the Kokosing Gap and the Holmes County Trails. The outhouse at the covered bridge resembles the bridge. Future plans are to build a park area at the covered bridge and drill a water well, install benches, hitching posts, more fencing, and improve parking areas along the trail and create a rest area at the Danville end of the trail.
